About Broken Spoke

We're passionate about cycling
Everything we do at Broken Spoke is aimed at supporting cyclists like you all the way through their cycling journey.
We do that by providing access to cycle training, workshop sessions, bike maintenance courses, repairs and recycling and sell affordable bikes back to the community to help you be happy and safe on your bike around Oxford and beyond.

We are a not-for-profit registered as a Community Benefit Society with charitable aims of improving access to cycling in and around Oxford.
We are also dedicated to adhering to co-operative principles based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity.

We're here to support you at every stage of your journey and work to actively remove barriers to cycling so everyone can experience the benefits of owning, riding and repairing their own bike.
Broken Spoke was founded in 2012 by two cycle loving women; Ellie and Cassiope starting with the motivation to help women, trans and non-binary folk break through into what was a cis male dominated bike world.
Through community funding and volunteer support, Beryls Night was born, and Broken Spoke found its first home at The Story Museum in Oxford. We grew substantially in five years, helping hundreds of people to fix and ride their bikes. And in 2018 a crowdfunder was launched to enable a move to our current location on Osney Lane and keep the organisation growing and pedalling!
